What you're talking about is 'kinetic' energy, it would have been incredibly destructive. What Dr. Woods hypothesizes is that it was a precise surgical hit, by an energy weapon. Thus the buildings appear to be vaporizing and smoldering (turning to dust) rather than collapsing in on themselves.
This preserved the Hudson River dam next to the towers, which would have flooded Manhattan had it been breached. The dust made the first responders and others ill. You should check her out, I have come to believe she has it right, as do others (who are not busy ostracizing her).

No. It was a thermonuclear weapon underneath the buildings. This aligns with isotope studies, especially tritium concentrations in the water, which can only be explained by a nuclear event, not by lasers or regular bombs. This is why 250,000 people have cancer.
