I think that's about right. Probably even a little generous coming off of last season's overall Ravens performance.

Negative. Joe Flacco is THE most under-rated quarterback in the NFL, and here's why. Quarterback performance is based on throws, completions, and YARDS. The Ravens are a heavy run team, utilizing short underneath passing, and flips to the RB (Ray M-F'n Rice!), all designed to pull defenders into the flats and inner zones. They beat the hell out of their opponents underneath so that defenses will tighten up... and once they do, they launch that long bomb WAY down the field. It's an effective, old-school play-style and it still works even in today's NFL.

What it DOESN'T do is get passer yards. When Flacco makes most of his passes, his targets are in the flats or underneath, only once in a great while do they drop that long bomb. Take into account that fact and the missing presence of Boldin, (and a less than stellar year by my man Ray) and it's no wonder Flacco's ratings are lower than they should be. What Flacco is, is patient and accurate. I've seen that man dance off two rushing linebackers and still drop it low and outside for his tight-ends on more than one occasion. He'll dance clear to the outside of the field before he drops that long bomb he's been looking off the whole time, and hit or miss, he's still gonna call a no-huddle offense. No, Flacco is gold. He's worth every penny he's getting paid and the entire staff up there of the Ravens know it. They also all know he's under-rated, and that's O.K. That's how they play football.

Don't get me wrong though. I told the whole world from day one the Ravens would win the Superbowl in '13. But I was born and raised in Seattle (area) and I knew even before pre-season was over that Russel Wilson (and our defense) was gonna get us that ring in '14. I can't wait for pre-season this year!
