The Muslims in question did quite a lot. In return for America's protection they openly turned on their extremist neighbors and translated for US troops. They did this at great risk to their lives. If America betrays them there will be no hope for such cooperation again.

If a person has served as an interpreter, or given exemplary service to United States armed forces in a combat zone, and can be fully vetted, then there should be a mechanism that would permit such individuals (and only their immediate family) a path to the U.S.
There is such a mechanism, and it's described in the article. But its conditions are so onerous many translators will be left to be killed by extremists.

It has nothing to do with Saudi Arabia being upset with us. This would be a betrayal of people who put their lives on the line as much or more than our soldiers did for America.
