Make an appointment with an ophthalmologist, NOT and optometrist. Optometrists are mostly about correcting near or far sightedness.

I'm no expert, but if it's not an emergency, my guess would be an optometrist would be the most financially beneficial choice. Check your insurance though, if urgent care visits are covered (or have like a $20-$30 copay or something) you should do that.

I think you may have conjunctivitis.
The below will cost you a couple of dollars. If you combine with oral oil pulling, your symptoms will clear within three days.
Another option to consider is Propolis, a natural resinous substance, which shows fantastic results in protecting our eyes and strengthening them against the effects of aging. The anti-bacterial properties of propolis have been known across the world for ages. Propolis remains one of nature’s best—and purest—bacteria-fighting agents. Research has shown propolis to combat conjunctivitis, infections, and similar conditions, and may help with cataracts. Recently, propolis has become the target of much medical research, showing promising results in allergy treatment, antimicrobials, and oral hygiene, to name but a few of the research directions. Propolis has promising effects on cell regeneration, with remarkable potential to benefit our body, especially our eyes

More than likely you don't have something in your eye. You probably had something in there at one point that scratched your cornea or the inside of your eyelid. It will feel like something is in there but there isn't.
