Note: That instrument is called a "Shamisen".
That style with a Hollow Wooden body with a membrane as the base is called a "Tsugaru Shamisen".
And this particular tune has been titled "Tsugaru Jonkara Bushi"

Thanks for the heads up Simo mate. Just found Aldious. I'm happy. This music reminds me of a drop G sort of sound, I like it a lot. does this instrument or players use the 31-tone equal-temperament? Has no frets???

Personally, I've not looked into how the instrument is even tuned, let alone the tonal charts the japanese use.
But totally 0 frets, You may be able to see a ring on their Index finger to help with the sliding.
I want to try their pick (Batchi) on a regular old guitar, looks mighty fun to use.
