Well, if she's African American then at least she's American. The one in NY is a French woman. How do you feel about her being a French woman for all this time?

Damn proud because without them we wouldn't exist and without us they wouldn't either. Our two nations are inexorably linked.

Yeah, she may be a naturalized Froggie-American (Pepette?) but still we got the bigger, better one. The one by the Pont de Grenelle in Paris is dinky by comparison.

Annoyed, but apathetic. I guess I'm getting old and I'm trying to choose my battles.

I think every time they swap races with established characters or historic people, they are really just saying they couldn't find any noteworthy people who aren't white.

They're re-writing our history, black washing our culture, one day we will have nothing left.

Liberty is a Roman goddess. If she's not depicted as Roman, how is anyone supposed to recognize that she is Liberty? If there was an image of a Chinese man, and somebody told me that it's supposed to be Zeus, I'd call them a liar.

doesn't the need to have the physical representations of ideals look just like your race in order for them to have meaning suggest that the people that want black lady liberty consider white people to be superior at least in the context of being able to look past the race of a person to what they stand for? in other words the fact that some people think black lady liberty is a good idea is proof that they know at some level that white people aren't generally racist?
