Apparently supporting DJ Trump for US POTUS is about all it takes here in the US.

Different opinions.

Really, someone is a Nazi if they are a National Socialist living in 1930-40s Germany. The culture, environment, beliefs, etc., are so different to any context you can think of today that "Nazi" just wouldn't accurately apply. So, it is used to demean or discredit someone with whom you disagree, usually on politically correct issues.

Which is weird because the people shouting "Nazi!" always seem to be the closest to Nazi behaviour. Who went around harrassing political opponents and smashing shop windows on the anniversary of Kristallnacht last year? Who bans political opponents from speaking publicly? Who tries to ban the publication of books they disagree with? Who blames all of their problems on an outside boogeyman like Russia? Who freely discriminates against and judges people on the basis of race through things like affirmative action? Who has a press which is 95% on their side and unabashedly critical of political opponents?

And, who goes around calling themselves the Master Race, oops, sorry, I mean, the Chosen People?

The Nazis were one of many governments who engaged in the activities you mention. It doesn't make sense to call it Nazi behavior. It's totalitarianism and intolerance.

I mean, national socialists in Germany in the 30's weren't even Nazis. The Nazi originated as a dirty word thought up by NSDAPs political opposition, and it's been used in war propaganda ever since. I'd say that it's almost impossible for a human to live up to the evil reputation of the Nazi bogeyman.

I think an affinity for homogenous community, dapper travel clothes, and a urge for nationalism qualifies anyone as a nazi. *Israel is playing pretend Nazis in the sandbox for example

Actual leftist here. Nazism is support for believe in white nationalism, where that means suppression of Jews and belief in Nazi philosophies.

By focusing on the most extreme and weakest arguments from political opponents, right wing Voaters weaken themselves.

I would say hatred of homosexuals is also important to the Nazi agenda because of the 14 words and (white) nation building.

Depends on your own pov and how much you know about National Socialism. For the majority It's mostly a convenient insult against people they disagree with on some social issue.

My definition of Nazi is entirely during Hitlers reign. I don't consider anyone living today a classic Nazi. Those who self-proclaim to be Nazis, in my opinion, have warped and perverted the definition. This is simply because they were not part of the movement. They would be more appropriately named neo Nazis, which I believe most claim to be anyway. I think the movie American History X does play a decent portrayal of that specific movement.

The hijacking of the word by democrats, liberals, anti trumpers and politicians has no base in reality, and I'm really puzzled by their insistence on using it, both on trump and his supporters. Even when given evidence that he supports that which nazis don't, proof that he has helped citizens of all colors and religions, supporters and trump are labeled all kinds of crazy things.

Basically the left and anti trumpers have taken a notoriously unfavorable word to be called, perverted and warped it in an attempt to dehumanize, criminalize, and generally make it easier to hate and despise those who disagree with them. It's how you know they have no real argument, they resort to ree-ing and name calling
