Wow, really love the comparisons this article makes at the end. Making a very few transgendered people feel comfortable while making everyone else comfortable is the same as "When you kill a terrorist, you may end up with civilian casualties. If you want more security at home, you may have to forfeit your civil liberties." No, it's a toilet. For guys at least, I don't think that anyone would want to share the bathroom with women after they have seen the lines in malls, airports, subways or places like that.

There are two genders, man and woman. Bathrooms are segregated because man is attracted to women and vice versa. It has always been to promote modesty and so you don't have to worry about perverts. It also is not bad like racial segregation was. I think to change this would be disturbing.

Following your "logic" (and I use that term loosely) you are going to need separate bathrooms for gay people.

Jesus, what kind of women are using the restrooms where you are? I don't think I've ever found menstrual blood on the walls, or if I have I don't think it ever registered as "welp, that's a Wednesday for ya".

Everyone has them in their homes. How is this controversial? I suppose it will cost a bit more for walls and doors around each toilet, and the people that make urinals might have a hard time but a communal hand washing area and doors that lock on rooms instead of stalls should cover it.

Bad idea. There are inherent differences between men and women. There are a lot of terrible people out there who wouldn't be able to handle this kind of thing. I know a guy who has never had a date. He would probably hang out in a gender neutral restroom just to try to peep on a woman. It's just asking for trouble.

For private businesses, that is their decision to make.

For public buildings, the right of association/non-association should be defended and thus rest-rooms should be divided by gender
