NeoGAF - View Single Post - Microsoft mismanagement ofthird party partnerships leaving developers in a bad state?

"These have to be some of the most blatant fanboy posts I've seen for months here on Gaf.", " None of this is new news, Microsoft has been a well-understood malevolent corporate entity for nearly as long as I've been alive.", "Considering I've owned both an OG Xbox and a 360 I don't feel like anyone can claim I'm a fanboy of anything besides good corporate citizenship."

'They have decades of reputation for being a ruthless monopolist which enters markets to crush competition which they deem as threats to their Windows monopoly. '

'My posts are specifically criticisms of Microsoft. '

Is it wrong that I want to choke some of these people? The way some go about their preferences pisses me off particularly if they have a growing audience.

Much like you can buy a Blu Ray player and be sure that near enough every single movie will be available on that format.

Not necessarily true, if they don't occasionally update the player's firmware to keep the encryption up to date (like say if you buy a player from a company that then goes under, or just decides to quit supporting your model), you're not going to be playing new movies on it any more. Thanks Hollywood. You really showed the "pirates" there, by making sure they're the only ones that can easily always rip movies and keep watching them forever.

Not to mention there are cheap players, expensive players, bare bones players, bells and whistles players, all sorts of players from all sorts of manufacturers. If anything the video game market with it's current three choices is downright simple compared to the movie player market.
