I remember when I thought NES graphics were great. Then I thought they were shit. Then we rethought them as a deliberate style, which I really liked. Now they've ruined it again with every other fucking indie game on Steam looking like an NES/SNES reject title. "Oh joy, another pixelized platformer in my daily queue!"

Also, I really hate the loss of the A and AA-tier games in favor of downloadable indies. There are lots of truly great indies, don't misunderstand me. But you won't see many new franchises like, say, Way of the Samurai, which was done on a shoestring budget on the PS2 and was a great fucking game. And when you do see new games like that, they're download-only. Fuck that, I want my discs.

Hilarious that when the indie releases are taken into account, the PS2/Xbox arguably had more good looking games by comparison. An early 2000s AA title only looks about 100 times better than an NES pixel nostalgia game.
