Fat shaming causes fats, but the only reason you would fat shame someone is...because they're fat. It's not even a chicken and egg kind of thing, it's just dumb. That they can start and finish those kinds of articles without realizing how nutty they're being is amazing.

Yeah, distinct lack of conclusive evidence as to whether author is a fat fuck, I suspect a skinny fat as its a food writer. Lazy ass journalism as per usual though.

Look at it's profile picture on it's bio page. Yeah, it's a small fat at the least.

Without exception, all of studies I've seen purporting it have been terrible. Sometimes with claims made which don't match the actual data. Other time with experimental controls which render it pretty much worthless as anything but suggestion for a better study. The most absurd I remember is a 20 something american on reddit proudly citing a study on a small group of senior citizens in another country to show that it's counterproductive. As if, even if it hadn't been a pretty poor study to begin with, there wouldn't be some pretty big differences in social reactions to things between a 20 and 80 year old in two different countries.

All this stupid article says is "hey, it's not OUR fault ok?"... fucking pathetic hams.

They have no one to blame but themselves, yet they'll find any excuse to remain fat. They deserve every single bit of ridicule and hate.

Also, "fat shaming" is a bullshit term. You can't make someone feel ashamed of something which they aren't already ashamed about - for example, I've had people call me poor, and to be honest I kind of am, in the big picture. I don't feel ashamed of that, but I just work to change it.

"you can only be 'shamed' for something that you know is not right. I have never been 'muscle shamed' "

Wait... they're posting this as a BAD thing? This tweet is pure fucking gold!!!

"Perhaps rather than resolving to lose weight every New Year, like so many Americans do, it'd be wiser to resolve to remember that body size is not directly correlated with a person's work ethic or worth."

BULLSHIT. Taking one look at a giant 400+ lb behemoth tells me everything I need to know about their work ethic, lack of self respect AND health. How fucking stupid are these people that think any differently?

I can't believe ''let's pretend obesity isn't linked to health issues'' is now ''social justice'' discourse. We don't have ''flawed beliefs about health and weight'' , we have scientific evidence they're correlated. That some obese people in their 20's don't have health problems yet doesn't debunk medical science. Your doctor is turning your visits into ''a weight loss intervention'' because that's their job, and if you stop going to the doctor because reality hurts your feefees you have only yourself to blame, not ''fatphobia''.

I had to force myself to read the whole thing. Fatlogic in absolute overdrive. The truth was so close to the writer and yet agonizingly out of reach!

Point 1 - so fat shaming causes cortisol rises in the fatties. They're stressed because they know they are disgusting fucks, but leaving that aside, the writer states that cortisol causes weight gain. Yet a few sentences later, we read that cortisol leads to overeating, binge eating and (therefore) weight gain. Muh hormones

Point 2 - the Harvard report that the writer refers to which apparently debunks willpower as having any relevance to weight gain states that things such as sedentary lifestyles and inflated portion sizes are factors in weight gain. Yeah. You eat too much and move too littlez, you will be a fat fuck. Eat less, move more. Willpower may be required for that if you are a butterbeast.

Point 3 - the doctors are right in their assumptions. Fats are lazy, have poor hygeine, are prone to (self-inflicted) illness and a general burden on the healthcare system.

Except...thin people also have cases where their cortisol levels can get high during stressful times. So...bullshit.

Anecdotal evidence: I am always stressed, due to several different factors. I'm sure my body produces a shitload of cortisol. When I gain weight, it goes straight to my stomach. But because I maintain a BMI around 20, I still have a flat stomach. Fats are just lazy and will grab onto any excuse they can.
