I could understand that if it was the case. If this was traditional brick and mortar business, if customers began going to the new competitor down the street, why would the customers of the established business give a shit? They aren't financially invested. Hell, they may like that there is less people clogging the aisles or causing lines. The only ones actively trying to stem the tide should be the actual stakeholders. Stop them by offering a superior product or experience. Not shady manipulation and sabotaging the competition.

Exactly! These guys are insane. And while offering better products, and services is always the way to go; at least shady business tactics would make sense if they had something to lose.

Instead, like you said, they have everything to gain from people leaving.
