When I was much younger I went to Africa with my family. For one of our dinners we went somewhere that only served meat. We sat at a grand table which hosted multiple families. Waiters would bring out platters of different meats of all kinds you could find in Africa. I distinctly remember having Ostrich and finding it to be delicious. Crocodile was not very good.

Ostrich is definitely on the menu at many places in the US (assuming you are in the US). I'm not saying it is super common, but if you live in/near a large city or near high end resorts, you can probably find it.

You shouldn't get overly excited, though. While good it really is a lot like beef filet mignon. So if you get too excited with anticipation, it might be underwhelming in the event. That would be a shame, because it is good, just not as highly exotic tasting as you might think.

There were all sorts of meats present, none of which really stick out like ostrich does. It was similar to duck pate, or an incredible piece of filet mignon, in that it just melted in your mouth. You can order it online if you desire, I think that would be an awesome goal or reward to have for yourself. Try all the different meats in the world that way! Yet I think that having it in a restaurant might offer the best experience. Can't go wrong either way!

A good, well cooked, quality ribeye steak from a steer is great. Slow cooked pork ribs can be fantastic, and a good ham or slow-cooked smoked shoulder are awesome. Chicken cordon bleu is fantastic when it's done well. A properly brined turkey is exquisite. Bison is good if you mix in some not-too-lean beef, venison jerky is damn nice, and moose isn't bad, either.

All in all, it depends on what you're in the mood for, what's fresh, what you're capable of preparing, and what sides you have.
