Illegal is illegal, let's keep it legal in the US.
Isn't Voat using cloudflare now? If so, then this idea is no good (not that it's a terribly good idea to begin with), because those servers ARE in the US, and if If anyone thinks being located outside the US is any sort of protection, they clearly haven't been paying attention for the past couple of decades

I don't have to pay attention to anything. I am clearly stating there shouldn't be any illegal content at all.

I think all kind, even drug related. This way it saves voat from any potential law suits.

I don't see how having a confirmation page prevents any law suits. "Click here to see illegal content" doesn't make it any less illegal to host or link to illegal content.

This idea would put voat in a very dangerous legal position. No you can't actually put that the content may be illegal in your country. As a server, voat is linking to objects that may exist in countries around the world. The culpability of voat would increase if they willingly served images that may be illegal. Then if a government decided to perform a legal remedy against voat, they would use the disclaimer as evidence that voat knew it was serving illegal content.
The best way to approach any kind of legality of content is through takedown policy. Have a strict policy against illegal content and have a reporting system that is transparent to eff.org standards and THAT IS ALL YOU NEED.
Anything else will put voat in a quagmire... which is what SJWs want.

I'd prefer to take it a step further and block all US-based IP's from jailbait. This really isn't a trivial matter; Voat is distributing child porn to US citizens, and US citizens are using Voat to share and access child porn. That's a big deal. I have no idea what the laws are, but it wouldn't shock me if American ISPs could be ordered to block this whole site because of that sub. The Feds don't just look the other way when it comes to child porn. Search engines like Google might voluntarily stop putting Voat in their search results. And even if there aren't any actual consequences, the fact that Voat is hosting child porn under US law is going to be a serious obstacle to any expansion.
Just block US IPs and be done with it. Nobody in the US can complain anymore because Voat's not hosting child porn for people in the US, and nobody in Europe can complain because it's not child porn to them. And as far as the anti-censorship crowd goes, this is only censoring things that are considered highly illegal for the affected users.

Voat isn't a host. You embedding a youtube vid on your page doesn't make you a host.

Then we get into the difference between hosting and aggregating. If voat is guilty isnt google guilty by extension since you can get to those subs from google? Besides that, it's pretty much impossible for google to monitor each of their searches in case it leads to some questionable site.

This is the most sane proposed solution to this issue that has been posted thus far.

Maybe readily identify subs that are controversial, so those offended can block them. Like... I'm totally upset by pedophilia, I don't want to see that anywhere. It's like head-in-the-sand self censorship. But.. if I self-censor, I then feel responsible to mount a response. So maybe I'd start a subverse v/pervhate

If we use it site-wide (I.e. on gay porn sub's and the like) that are illegal in some countries as well, then they won't be able to point the warning as anything special.
Also on the same confirmation page could be a disclaimer saying "all Voat content complies with Swedish law".

"all Voat content complies with Swedish law"
As far as I know, the servers aren't located in Switzerland. Voat is going to have to deal with laws in different jurisdictions. Additionally, having the jailbait sub is going to make it very difficult for when Voat needs to move servers in the future.

The problem aren't the moral issues or anything. IT's the fact that Cloudfare is an American company, and they will have every reason to shut us down if we have any CP in there. What I suggest is to make the /v/jailbait verse unavailable in the US and other countries where the legal porn-filming age is 18+/21+
