grew up a liberal, 28. I'm from the generation that started all this crap, and marxists seemed to take over colleges around the time I went. It wasn't bad when I started, but it got progressively worse very quickly thanks to my generation falling to their brainwashing techniques. I blame tumblr, which launched early 07 (didn't really get big until 09 if i remember right).
funnily enough, it's been turning me completely away from leftism. i'm still slightly left, but i think that's just because I haven't fully applied all of my research to all of my political beliefs. whenever that happens, i'll probably be a full-blown right-wing or centrist anarchist of some kind. i never imagined this would happen lol
unfortunately, i think at it's core, it IS right vs left. Under all the rhetoric, it seems like the question is what role the government should play in our economic lives. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the Right = free markets, and the Left = intervention. but a lot of modern lefties are also libertarians, so they tend to be anti-establishment. which, funnily enough, the sjws are too. they just think the government is the solution, and haven't realized how hypocritical that is. my generation was POUNDED by leftist propaganda. it takes time and a willingness to look for your own hypocrisies and learn from them. But it makes you better at "winning" internet fights, so at least that's a perk :^)

I agree completely. I lean towards the Left. But in the last ten years or so, the Left has lost the plot. It's now more about joining the trans cult. It's forgotten it's raison d'etre, which is advocating for the working class, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged. Unfortunately, it's degenerated to 'micro-aggressions' and no-platforming of anyone with dissenting, but rational, views. It's ridiculous.
