That is natural the more globally connected the world becomes.. Eventually the whole world will have only 1 giant store/corporation every where and it will be your only option (probably walmart, which I hate and always boycott (they go under different names in different countries by the way))..

Wow! How did you just happen to know my #1 favorite quality restaurant!? I just love their extensive menu chock-full of some of the juiciest burgers I've ever tasted! Like their 1/2-pound Original Six Dollar Beetusburger®, which can be yours for the low low price of $99999.99 (plus tax). I can't believe what a GREAT deal that is! I can't even imagine putting any thing healthier in to your body than that!

Yes and No.

Many small towns were still a majoriy mom and pop until mid 80's. Larger places had already been started to be swamped by MacDonalds and other brands. K-Mart was already well established by this time too.

So, not really because most mom and pop stores died out in the early 80's.

I think they each have a good place.

It's nice to be able to go almost anywhere and find something familiar. Where they have that one thing you actually like, even though you know it's a chain shithole.

But somewhere nearby, no matter where you are. If you look around, you'll find that local flavor.

I stopped eating out in the US....shiat food......Thai food is not real Thai, neither is Chinese, etc et al......all taste the same bland garbage....The US as a whole has the worst food imaginable...other than say, the Sudan.

Yes. I traveled the country and it was really sad how many fucking box marts there were. I stand against developers for this reason- also because the jobs in those marts suck.

And the profits, the most important money, leave the local economy. Growth will happen elsewhere.

Growth in the pockets of the 1% of ownership class. The rest see their share of the pie shrink.
