Easy and cheap fix for that.... hose clamp:

I've had the same hose clamp on my truck since 2003 when I bought the truck, have NEVER needed to remove the tailgate. I also pointed the clamp so it can only be unfastened when the tailgate is held about 45deg open, and from under the truck.

Just a FWIW if you own a truck. Tailgates are often damaged and easily stolen, why NOT spend less than a buck to protect it?

THANK YOU FOR THE PICTURE. I have many trucks. I will do mine tomorrow. 4 of my trucks are over 30 years old. Damn near impossible to find their tailgates in good shape. CHEERS!!!

Looks like a new Ford 150. They have tailgate key locks. After watching this, I think I will start using mine more often.
