But yet somehow it's absurd to think that illegals voted.

How could illegals vote when Russia hacked the election? Fucking conspiracy theorists /s.

But Snopes told me that it's false! http://www.snopes.com/california-motor-voter-act/

I actually read that article carefully. They use weasel words to say that CA hasn't made it legal for illegal immigrants to vote, and therefore they conclude the claim is "False." Still, they admit the following:

  • Illegal immigrants can now get drivers licenses

  • Anyone who gets a drivers license is now automatically registered to vote (unless they opt out)

But instead of coming to the obvious conclusion (illegal immigrants will be registered to vote) they say "well technically they're still not eligible to vote, so therefore this is FALSE!" They also completely ignore the fact that if the illegals are willing to break federal law to enter the US illegally, why the fuck would they suddenly be dissuaded from breaking another law by voting illegally?

Snopes is exhibiting selective stupidity once again

We should certiainly give them drivers licenses, cause it cuts down on them causing accidents, bailing, and leaving citizens to pay for the damage they cause. However, on all licenses it should have something that says immigration status. a big i for illegal. c for citizen, pr for permanent resident. It also makes it easier to capture and deport only once, if you finger print and get their address data when giving them their licenses.

Or you could be exhibiting selective stupidity by way of cognitive dissonance. Any particular reason you are using the snopes article, which you clearly do not trust as a source, as your only source? Have you stopped to ask how this is possible? Or maybe look at the facts and think critically about why California is doing what its doing? Or did you find enough information to satisfy your "I just read the headline" opinion?

First, the process for obtaining a drivers license requires proof of age. If the origin of birth/citizenship is other than U.S. then the registration will not be done.

Second, the state of California does not register people to vote. That is done at the county level. The state only maintains collective voter rolls for state and national elections.

Third, and to carry on the prior point, the process is only automated in the sense that it moves the paperwork along automatically. The DMV collects the information it needs for its purposes. That information happens to be some of the same needed for registering to vote. It passes that information to the individuals County Clerk. They handle voter verification. The county also maintains birth certificates and the lot which it uses to verify the voter. Even if somehow the DMV fudges up (which is why paying people shit is never a good idea, minimum wage=minimum effort and susceptibility to corruption) the county will find the records lacking and reach out to the individual for further documentation.

There isn't a way, assuming procedural integrity and accurate records, for a mistake to happen.

What other countries can you go to, break the law and receive the royal treatment?

This was actually necessary. I used to live in L.A. and every night on the news, some asshole would run over a pedestrian and not stop to render aid. For whatever reasons I don't want to speculate on, DUI among Latino people is super high already, and coupled with no licensing, it led to tons of hit-and-runs.

So the state, since they only had the power to license people, and the feds are the ones responsible for enforcing immigration law, did what they could, and allowed illegal immigrants to get licenses. Now with licenses they could get insurance, and not worry about having their cars towed if they had a broken taillight.

Overall it was not a bad idea, but it highlighted how bad the feds let the immigration issue get.

Are you telling me that an illegal, drunk and has just hit a pedestrian is Not going to skip Because they have a license? Because I find that unlikely.

Literally. Mexicans will hit your car and drive off if not caught. Even if they are caught foreign nationals are judgement proof. You can't sue them or garnish their wages because they will just change their information and move on. But you know what you get? Higher insurance costs. Yaaaay Mexico! Land of the two legged Spaniard parasite! Destroyer of Western worlds.

And here I am making my 4th trip to the MVA (Maryland DMV) because my birth certificate social and previous license aren't enough info for me to prove who I am.

To be fair the MVA is truly horrendous. When I lived out there it would have taken me 9 months to get my full license, as an adult. Instead I flew back home for a week, took the written test to prove I knew that, scheduled a drivers test ASAP ( 4 days later ) and flew back home with my license. It was efficient.

The Hispanic vote is destined to overwhelm the rest of the voting populace in the next 50 years and it will have been because of California. The blacks haven't figured it out yet, but the democrats abandoned them long ago. It started happening in 1965 when our immigration policy changed and now we are at the point where the black population is actually in decline while the Hispanic population continues to explode.

In 10-20 years the blacks will be all but forgotten by Democrat lawmakers as they move to replace their Uncle Toms like Elijah Cummings and replace them with Uncle Joses. Since identity politics is the only way they know how to win, they won't have choice.

Raise welfare slightlybut lower the baby cap to 2. Slight bonus for foster and adoptions. It might contribute to a stagnant population growth, I don't think top lawmakers want that

I mean that's why the electoral college is set up the way it is. Just cause one state that has a large pull votes one way doesn't mean it will sway the whole country. Just cause California has a lot of people voting one way doesn't mean the whole country will vote that way as well.

[–] KingofKong 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

The electoral college doesn't matter when sanctuary cities exist in every state. I live a couple miles from one. Its one of the oldest cities in my state and its become little mexico. The Hispanics increase in population exponentially every decade. Even legal ones tend to vote overwhelmingly democrat and i don't see that changing any time soon.

Also, don't be surprised to see a nationwide referendum to end the electoral college in the next 20 years.
