The "report" was probably put together by the CIA which is the Department Of Misinformation... so there's that.

...just try to imagine how fucking bent against its own people a corrupt government has to be to try so hard to kill the whistleblowers

All these organizations care about is preventing another Snowden, and they've concluded the best way to do that is to show the lengths they will go to demonize a whistle-blower.

Effective and chilling. This is our country.

They have to do better than this. 21 blacked out points? If the secrets are spilled let us see the points. If this is true, we need more than truth is that we would never know how badly our Fourth Amendment was shattered without Snowden. If he did other bad things, the burden is on the law breakers who created this illegal system. Not on the whistleblower.

I’ve been in some rather diverse communities online and I have never encountered anyone who believes the government’s official stance on Snowden. Not a single person.

They must be out there. I recall Trump saying he considers Snowden a traitor. He probably wouldn’t say that unless he knew a lot of people felt the same way. I haven’t heard from any of these people outside of government officials and law enforcement though.

Is there a recent poll anywhere showing how average Americans feel on this?

I’m betting most Americans are barely familiar with the issue and don’t care. I think Trump denounced Snowden to win support from law enforcement on something no one else cares about.

congress needs to be careful. the russians could make moves now and any accusation towards the russians, no matter how true might be dismissed, and then we're all in some deep poopy

Not necessarily.

What if Russia liberates us from this regime?

You're considering a point that is a different possibility entirely. So

Not necessarily.

Does not imply a counter point to the claim that congress won't believed if they keep not telling the truth.

Learn to talk.

And yes if russia helped that wpuld be great. But if their history says anything, as soon as they believe theyve got an upper hand they will over play their hand and plunge themselves indefinitely into a shithole.

Congress Calls Edward Snowden a Liar in New Report - NBC News

'His lawyer, Ben Wizner, told NBC News he considers the report "a failed attempt to discredit Edward Snowden, whose actions led to the most significant intelligence reforms in a generation."'

'The report says that Snowden began downloading secrets eight months before, just a few weeks after a spat with his NSA supervisors. '

'Snowden has consistently denied cooperating with Russian intelligence. '

'"The report wholly ignores Snowden's repeated and courageous criticism of Russian surveillance and censorship laws," Wizner said. '

'"This extensive report shows Snowden is no hero," said Rep. '
