Wow, animation is getting so good these days you can hardly tell it from real life.

She's great. Reminds of a choir director from college.

Now there's a person who enjoys what she's doing!

It's definitely apparent she loves what she does, but a good conductor should be similarly animated. The conductor is there for more than just keeping time for the orchestra. They have to convey to them not only the tempo but how to play.

From the looks of it, she's conducting a "fun" piece of music. It seems bouncy like it's for the score in a scene in a Pixar movie where children are playing in the mud, then when she drops down, she shushes the music because mom just caught them getting their new clothes dirty.

To those who have never been part of an ensemble, it doesn't seem like the conductor does very much, but there's way more to it than an outsider might initially assume.

Edit: "to," not "too."

it almost looks like she sees the music when she looks at the orchestra

Music Major here, this is very common. In fact, I prefer more austere conductors.

I don't want to be dick or anything, but I actually found it quite annoying, I don't know why, but I actually cringed out of the gif before it finished. After reading the comments, I decided to go and watch the whole thing, still didn't enjoy it. I think it takes away from the music.

Out of curiosity, how old are you? You can PM if you do not want to share it publicly (of course you are in no way obligated to tell me).

In my opinion the time has passed when classical music needs to be austere and proper. We need more music like pop-music, with musicians playing in casual or stylish clothing and having less uptight atmosphere. Bringing soul back to music. There were times where people fought in bars whether Brahms or Wagner is better.
