What distro?

Kubuntu (with xfce) and Xubuntu (now that I know I hate KDE).

If you are serious about Linux Gaming, I would always recommend running a rolling distro. You'll get better support from the distro maintainers for the latest GPU drivers and Kernel releases.
Antergos is my go to distro. I would recommend Gnome desktop environment. However, they offer many options.
My second option would be Solus.
My third would be Ubuntu Mate.
