I don't understand why so many people think that if the EC doesn't confirm Trump, that it will mean Hillary Clinton will be President.

Well, I do understand actually, and it makes me sad that so many are ignorant about something this important, and that this ignorance is being used to scare people into believing something that isn't true by manipulative bastards trying to set up a future power grab.

Even if the EC does flip enough votes and refuses to confirm Trump, Hillary will not be President. That's not how the Electoral College works.

This is not an A or B situation. The Electors can write in whoever the hell they want, or no one at all. Most of the EC voters who might flip will probably either abstain or write in another Republican even if they do refuse to confirm Trump.

EC members are chosen because they are party loyalists with long records of service and support for their party. The majority of them aren't going to cross party lines unless they are beaten to a pulp and are dragged by force. The idea that the ones in question would elect Hillary of all people is absurd. These people would sooner write in Donald Duck or Darth Vader on their ballots.

If the number of electoral votes goes below the threshold because enough voters don't vote for Trump, the House gets to decide who the next President is. This is the most likely outcome of flipped electors, and even then it's a huge longshot.

Even if it does happen, guess who controls the House? They aren't going to make Hillary President. The very idea that they might is stupid.

In fact, they're most likely to just confirm Trump anyway. Even if not, it will be another Republican. Like I said, it's not an A or B situation. If it goes to the House, they can pick whoever the hell they want.

The idiot that wrote this also does not understand the purpose of the Electoral College. It's intended so that these things aren't decided by popular vote. This was done on purpose.

The "popular vote" would be major metropolitan areas. A few States with highly populated cities would have an extreme advantage in deciding who the President is. There would be no need to campaign anywhere else. You think the flyover states get ignored now? If the EC is gone, it will be even worse.

The purpose of the EC is to ensure that every State has a say in who becomes President. They aren't all equal, but largely rural states [Red States] actually matter because of it. Without the EC policy and politics would be completely shaped by hugely populated urban areas. Everyone else would be completely hosed because their votes would matter even less than they already do.

Getting rid of the EC would be a huge mistake for this country. It would take considerable power away from working class rural America and put it all in the hands of the huge, spoiled Liberal bubbles major US cities have become. The reasons Liberals want it gone so badly is because it gives them a huge advantage because they all live inside urban bubbles that are mostly along the coasts.

If you live in a red state, you should not want anyone to fuck with the EC. It's what gives you a voice and what makes your vote matter. It's the reason you can oppose those huge blue safe space bubbles that dot the coasts and fight back against them fucking you over with their bullshit.

The EC is in the constitution for a reason, the founders knew what the fuck they were doing when they put it there. Any idiot who says "It's unconstitutional" has no fucking clue what the hell they're talking about. It's literally the Twelfth Amendment and has been in place since 1803.

I almost hope it actually happens and the EC does refuse to confirm Trump, just so I can laugh at all the ignorant Liberals who wonder what the fuck went wrong because they don't understand how this shit works when the House elects a Republican President that will fuck them over even harder than Trump would.

Ironically, the best possible outcome of this situation for Liberals is Trump in the Oval Office. At least with him they have something of a wildcard who might say no to the House and Senate on some issues. If the vote gets kicked over to the House, you can bet your ass that the House and Senate will have a rubber stamp with legs sitting in that office.

You think the Liberals are salty now? Just imagine what they'll be like if that happens. XD
