I dunno, sounds like a way to get too meta and navel-gazing. The last thing I'd want to see is subs filled up with mods campaigning for their own election.

Not everything has back of the napkin solutions. Reddit has 175 million users. What's going to make them come to Voat other than when they get mad at Ellen Pao? How about if they get mad at the mod of their favorite subreddit, and hey, here's Voat which has great mods because it's democratic. Voat needs a killer app. What if it's...wait for it... wait for it... voting.

Then have a no-campaigning rule.

So how are people gonna know who to vote for?

Personally I think it's best just to have a group of anti-censorship admins, who will take action to remove any mod who is getting too censorship-happy.
