I'll admit, what I did was probably wrong.
Why?
The first thing I did was to create a subverse, too. Also one that also exists on reddit. I didn’t have any bad intentions in doing so, I just wanted to bring a topic of my interest over to Voat.
I don’t think a CCP minimum would stop anyone with not-so-great intentions from doing what they do. It would only discourage new users who mean well. There already are rules that you have to keep your subverse active (by posting submissions and comments, if I remember correctly), so an inactive user wouldn’t keep their subverses for long.
I think it might be a better idea to have a general (and low) limit on how many subverses a user can create/moderate. Maybe just one or two for someone with no/very few CCP, more for people with a higher CCP. As long as it stays reasonably low. If people really have to think about which subverses they want to moderate, that’s probably better for the content quality than just tying it to a CCP requirement.

I like your idea more. Limiting the number of subverses would limit "subverse squatting" (akin to domain squatting) and weed out unmoderated subverses.

I too created a subverse that exists on Reddit. But it is niche and likely won't have many subscribers. No bad intentions, I just wanted it to be available for when more people make the jump.
I like your ideas about subverse limits.
A tiered moderation system seems intelligent. I think your proposed implementation is probably the best method of implementing such a system. Well thought out! It would encourage people to post about that which they most care about, and in turn improve the quality of content on Voat! I'd give you a Voat platinum, if such a thing existed.

Agreed. Some names are worth ignoring. Randompicporn for example is lame.

If someone creates a ring of porn subverses, isn't there a chance that said subserves will just go unused. Then, after a month, someone new could just request the subverse transferred to them? I think we're fine. I just don't want a situation where one would have to be a reddit style power mod to start a new verse. That doesn't have a very free feel to it.

I don't like the idea of being required to be a power mod either, but I think that the requirement of being an active member of the Voat community isn't harmful. Though you do bring a good example of a slippery slope to the argument: If one is required to reach a certain amount of CCP before becoming a mod, then what stops the next logical step, that bring power mods, as you've said. It's an interesting point of concern, where the admins will have to balance and tune it well.

Dunno. I founded the two subreddits I currently moderate before I had even 20 CCP. I may not actually have been as enthusiastically about the whole thing if I couldnt have done that...

Right? Why limit it. Are you going to do a bad job because you are a new account?

I think this is a good idea. Perhaps we should also have a minimum for modding a subverse?

Creating and modding. Good ideas.

There are good things and bad things that could come from this:
Good:
It would be harder for people to become anonymous powermods. Like having multiple accounts that are spread across many subverses (Ex. SRS mods all have a name "Archangelle", KiA noticed this and one of the thoughts about them all having the same name was simply to remain anonymous outside of any SRS related subreddits.)
It would show proof of investment in the community. Hell, you might even get better mods from it if you make them work for it.
Bad:
This sort of system could possibly make it difficult to start up a new community. Smaller subverses might not benefit from this because it's hard enough starting it up, but making barriers just to be a moderator might hurt a subverse that wants to grow without this single moderator being overwhelmed. He'll hire other mods, but it could be a slow process getting the necessary number of mods. Unless maybe once the founding user creates the subverse he/she could set a threshold for becoming a mod within their subverse? This is purely speculation.
This encourages a want for CCP which is good and all, but it's been said before that this could be a bad thing because people might just comment purely for the CCP instead of contributing something to the conversation at hand. Again, speculation.
Overall, I like the idea and I'd love to see how it'd play out.

You make some good points that I did not think about. But, we could very well have this on trial for a bit. After all, we're still in alpha so trying things out and seeing where it goes seems like it should be okay :)

Hi, I created this account to mod NSFW subverses. I do want to have my internet accounts separate just if some crazed prude decides to call my employer. Like this I was able to create subverses that were missing, and I can contribute there and be a participating member of voat community. I think limiting that potential would only harm voat.
