Make an add and pretend you're selling dog puppies or something similar for 25-100 bucks and target people you know are really dumb when they respond back to your ad. Have them send you money orders for 25-100 bucks. If you can find someone else who is dumb who will cash the money orders for you then you add another layer the police probably won't have the resources to investigate. If you keep your money levels low the police won't have enough resources or interest to investigate and if you target dumb people they probably won't be smart enough to pinch you.

To find a dumb person who is dumb enough to cash the money orders and give them to you, post an ad saying your looking for an admin to help you with your business. "Hire" the one that seems the dumbest and naive to you to take and cash the money orders. Once they collect drive a hundred miles to meet them for coffee while they hand you the cash. If you put some spelling mistakes in the ad and your responses to your suckers it will help filter out the dumb ones for you to target.

Elderly people are targeted the most frequently. They get put onto suckers lists and their details get passed down 5-10 years down the line to hit again. A common thing is they will get scammed for a foreign real estate investment worth 10s of thousands then the scammers will call them back pretending to be lawyers asking for a smaller amount of money to recover what they lost. They fall for foreign lotto scams a lot as well.

What was the most original scam you encountered?

Tbh there isn't really any original scam. They are all just variations of basic scams. If someone attempts an original scam chances are they will be caught easily because it is poorly thought out.
Probably one real ballsy one is that the scammers will call a sucker pretending to be the police and tell them they caught a criminal using their credit card. If the sucker falls for it the scammer will meet with them and tell them they need to go undercover to help the police and use their credit card to buy something expensive so they can sting the person who used their card. The sucker ends up buying the scammer a 5k Rolex etc believing that they are helping the police to catch a criminal.
Nigerian 419 scammers use dating websites and target older women now. They post a pic of a white high ranking army officer and say they are stationed in Africa but were mugged and need money so they can get back on their feet and meet the woman or something like they want to buy a house so the woman can come live with them. They will send fake skype loops etc. The women will end up sending them 10s of thousands. The women are so naive that they will say "his voice sounded african" despite the pics being of some white American army officer.
African scammers also use ebay and then send a fake confirmation email to the sucker. The sucker ends up sending them a $600 iphone and pays for shipping as well. The police won't even bother to investigate and the post office won't stop the shipment.
I sound a bit callous and I have become but I'm still sensitive that it's a nasty thing to do to people and that scammers are mostly all scumbags but people should also not be so naive and trusting.
