It means that your fears are rational to an extent. They are complex moving machinery. Being more informed about them may help you to more safely use them in a way that is unlikely to cause you or anyone else harm. Just like I am terrified of having a car wreck, by knowing what sorts of things can happen under certain circumstances, by being more informed about the dangers, I can act to avoid or prevent them from occurring.
Edit: You're welcome, though. :D Happy to help!

You're right. But I will forever see them in my minds eye as a giant set of teeth ready to suck me in and eat me alive. I do notice a lot have anti jaming devices installed that stop the escalator if anything happens, and emergency off buttons.

Using the stairs is probably better exercise anyway (though maybe not so good for your knees... hmm).

Fun story, when my sister was 5 we were riding on a travelator (flat esculator) and she though it would be fun to lay flat... you can see where this is going. Well I tell her to get up at the end but her hair started getting eaten up by the teeth. She started screaming, it only happened for a split second because some random man came and scooped her to safety. Stupid kid.

NOPE. NOPE I CAN NOT DEAL WITH THAT.
I'm glad someone was able to help because my night mares can't handle someone being scalped right now.
