McAfee has a high rate of false positives, I've had to send exception requests on several occasions to their research dept.
You could send in a false positive yourself: virus_research@mcafee.com
But I'm not sure the same process will work for web-pages.

It is very inconsistent in finding threats and protecting your PC, if you are happy with it and works for you then by all means continue using it! unfortunately it doesn't provide ANY kind of information on why it blocks you from visiting slimgur.
all other scanners report the site as clean. https://www.virustotal.com/en/url/de8fa01e405f3d161734752af42b9cb019282fe6d9c59c60641473755e23d1e7/analysis/

Not sure about McAfee as I haven't used it, but if you mean on the specifics of submitting an item (web url, upload file for submission, etc) to them for report as malware, any file can be submitted.
It's not just executable files that contains virus. Some list are here and here (some overlapping).
