In the Philippines, the older folks are shameless shitlords and shitladies. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, and parents would comment on one's weight gain in lieu of a greeting. My father is one of the best shitlords I know. An example: My sister is fat. She just got engaged and of course, we're all happy for her. But my father couldn't resist saying, "Maybe you'll think about losing weight more seriously because who would want to look like an elephant in their wedding dress?" Way to go, pops.

But sadly, the obese population of my country is steadily growing.

I had a fat cow-worker in Taiwan who said she ordered in a restaurant. They told her she'd ordered too much. She said "Well that's up to me isn't it?". They brought her her food and said "You shouldn't eat so much, you're fat".

Ha ha it's common in almost every country except the U.S. And some countries in Europe.

China. Big time. and it starts really early in their life, so they don't even care when their parents call them fat in front of their friends./so

I live in Guernsey and pretty much all of my friends seem to be shitlords, but i don't know if it's commonplace everywhere on the island

Hong Kong. We have limitless ways to insult hamplanets here. You could freely shitlord in person / online / articles in newspaper , between relatives / friends / strangers. No one will say you should not insult hamplanets here, just some might say that's rude to do it.

That's why we don't see too many obese Chinese.

Hong Konger is not exactly Chinese, but yeah ... similar culture on this aspect. I think East Asia is the same on this issue, including Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Japan. I live here, and it is shitlord heaven. They will talk about fat foreigners right in front of them. They will tell each other to go to the gym. I know girls who would be considered "anorexic" by the "average" American that go on diets here because someone warned them that they were looking chubby

Well Americans think any normal sized person is anorexic, like say Emma Watson or Jennifer Lawrence. Good to hear about the shitlording heaven though.

Exactly. People that are actually normal sized (not by American definition) will get called out for putting on weight. So there are friends of mine who are already very slender compared to the American average now, and they are on diets because their grandmother or someone mentioned that they were starting to put on weight and were getting chubby. So rather than keep doing what they were doing and eating as much as they were, they just modify their diets and reign back some to make sure they stay at a good weight.

japan has shitlording down to a science, and it is applied to any negative or unhealthy things.

You look skinny.

you shouldn't eat so many chips, you are getting squishy,

you sure did grow a beard there... isn't it itchy? wouldn't you rather shave it?

everyone is pretty on point with their appearance here, because you get called out for being lazy.

edit: I've had friends who frequent the same convenience store be told by the workers there that they shouldn't buy so many snacks because it's unhealthy. these were American friends and they took it very harshly, though really the workers were just putting the team on they back.

It really is amazing there. Not being fat is just encoded into the lifestyle. I was there for two weeks and walked about 8-12 miles a day, ended up losing like 10 pounds on vacation. The only fat Japanese person I saw was a freaking Sumo wrestler. In hindsight that trip was probably the catalyst for me going full shitlord. No regrets. I can't wait to go back.

It would probably be a news story if an employer or someone like that called a ham a ham here. Thanks a lot UK. Honestly, reading that makes me want to make myself self look as good as I can and then take a trip to Japan to receive some cold hard shitlord critique. Here there's no incentive to be more than "good" cause no one expects you to be "excellent" fitness/health wise.
