When I was 13 (I am probably older than you), I got my very first cd player/boombox (see? Told you) along with MC Hammer - Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em, The Simpsons Sing the Blues, and Boys II Men - CoolieHighHarmony. I did get a Randy Travis - Storms of Life cassette tape probably a good five years or so earlier than that, but it was likely a present or something, so I don't think it counts. I would try to claim I have better tastes these days, but I also went through a juggalo phase, so what's the point?
You people really make me feel old. The first album for me was Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of the Seventh Son, followed by Bon Jovi's New Jersey. Both in 1988. Yeah I listen to both - played in a band and all that - they're still my favs to this day.
Love Gun by KISS sometime around '98 or '99. I found it a yard sale and thought the album art looked pretty cool. It was my first album bought with my own money, and my very first LP.
The wall by pink Floyd and I had a multi disc player with repeat. It was the album I owned for about three years while I played eqoa for hours on end until I turned 16 and got a job to buy more.
The first one I can remember buying with my own money is Hilary Duff's Metamorphosis. I had a lot of Hilary Duff stuff, and it wasn't because I thought she was a good actress or musician.
