Okay, so I've taken several years of university-level calculus, and I have NO idea how that multiplication table works. I've been trying to decipher it for about an hour, and I just feel frustrated and dumb.

Anyone care to explain it to a simple man?

Same boat. I think it has to be a teaching aid instead of a multiplication tool.

Imagine some guy comes in and starts erasing the boards, not knowing what's going on? That would be just devastating.

Now seal the new ones in with text speak and watch in 80 years as we're praised for our language skills.

They should put the chalkboards on display in the city hall or a city museum.

"Penmanship like this is clearly a lost art." ... ಠ_ಠ ... It's just fucking cursive.

Yeah, but it's not all that difficult to get that good at cursive. My cursive is almost that good, I would say, given that I practice every day (I only have been for about 6 months).

Once keyboards are obsolete, people might exclaim that typing at more than 100 words per minute is a lost art. Well... maybe it will be lost, but not an art: people who type all day for a living and have decent form will not find it difficult to reach that rate eventually without even trying.
