From someone who played the shit out of civ3 and civ4 and civ5 single-player, civ6 really doesn't hit it with me...I can't say about multiplayer but as far as single-player goes I would rank civ6 as "bad". As long as the AI is broken as fuck I must say civ6 just isnt fun for me...
I mean...the changes made from civ3-civ4-civ5 are really big changes...so what changed with civ5-civ6? Districts, no more manual building roads, workers build improvements by one turn, and new tech-tree with "cards"....I mean....I can't say fuck this game but...it's close to it...considering the trend of civ games this one should have been a civ5 expansion pack or some shit...
In conclusion, yes civ5 is fun, civ6 isn't. I believe civ6 is meant exclusively for multi-player so maybe the experience is way different there...

Interesting, I didn't know there was such a heavy emphasis on multiplayer in 6.
I agree with your review. You ever play DLC? Civ 5 Nights (DLC) is a large overhaul compared to Civ 5 without DLC. It's nowhere as different as Civ 6 to Civ 5 in terms of graphics, but happiness, culture, production, and science are all similarly overhauled in that DLC.
I usually end up having the same problem with most 4X games. You empire expands to a point where it's just tedious giving instructions to everyone. And this is especially the case when it comes to going to war with an equally massive empire.
Now most 4x games have city governors to help with this. And most have some form of obsoleting or upgrading your units. But I've noticed most still have very few options for automating rally points for units, or having good tools to mass edit a whole group of cities production queues. I recall Galactic Civilizations 2 having great options in this regard, but that's about it.
And I'll say, the end game for GalCiv2 was among the best endgames of any 4X I've ever played.
I should really install that again and give it a go.

Civ V is an amazing game. Play it with a group of friends and see how you feel. The AI is one thing, but playing a massive game of chess with multiple live humans is awesome. I have yet to play Civ VI, but knowing the time suck it takes playing Civ V, I am holding off until I have some actual free time to give it some commitment.

I've played multiplayer but only against one person LAN. I've always loved playing multiplayer online, but usually my ping is pretty low. I'm definitely envious that you play with a group because that sounds like a blast. BUT you have to admit that mashing buttons to get your units to move faster than the opponents is silly. And if you're not playing simultaneous turns I don't envy you, that would be one long ass game.

Is mashing buttons a Civ VI gameplay element? I am not aware of any instance in Civ V where mashing buttons does anything more than hurry up the animations so your turn ends faster. I don't recall that actually improving your chances of attack.
