The Government Is Using a No Fly Zone to Suppress Journalism At Standing Rock | Motherboard
'The TFR applies only to civilians; law enforcement helicopters and aircraft buzz over protesters with impunity. '
'The Federal Aviation Administration has set up a Temporary Flight Restriction over a four-mile radius surrounding the Standing Rock protests. '
'They have shown people being knocked backward with a constant barrage of water being shot from fire hoses. '
'By any definition of the word, the drone pilots documenting the Dakota Access Pipeline protests are conducting journalism. '
'Every suppression apparatus the government has at its disposal has been usedâ\x80\x94even the National Guard has been called in. '

I agree with journalism to capture police corruption and what not, but this article is biased in that it is reporting inaccurate statements regarding aviation and criminal laws.
If law enforcement or fire responders are operating in an area, it is legal for them to take a drone down unfortunately. This applies especially to fire or police operating air maneuvers. Think of it this way: the real planes/helis have priority in the air over our little toy drones, and LEOs can shoot em down with whatever if they are threatening real planes/helis.
You dont need a no fly zone established to enforce keeping drones out. Per FAA reg, drones arent even supposed to fly over people who arent a part of the operating crew, for example.
Believe me, ive researched the shit out of this as a drone and FAA licensed pilot.
