Gun Control is Why Chicago Murder Rates Are Skyrocketing
'While they have mostly targeted so called “assault weapons,” proponents of gun control have also sought to further limit handguns. '
'In the wake of Sandy Hook, many people have called for increased gun control. '
'Any gun deaths are a tragedy, but restricting gun possession does not prevent them. '
'Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. '
'Proponents of gun control have their heart in the right place. '

We don't have a gun violence problem, we have a black crime problem in our cities. When around 3% of the population (young black males) commit 50% of the murder in our country, thats a problem. Also 93%of those murders are black on blacks. Its not whites murdering blacks, its black on black crime in VAST numbers. Just check out the FBI and CDC stats on violent crime and race breakdown. This is a violent sub culture, this is not genetic, so this is purely stat based.

Chicagoan here, maybe it's part of it but the areas play a huge part of it, Englewood and Austin have so much gang activity.
I'm of course pro-second amendment and to me, that's where it ends. I have a constitutional right to a gun and no other arguments are needed. Start trying to justify things and you end up in a war of statistics and reasons for and against.
No matter what reasons people want to claim for and against or why, I can say my city is a perfect example of gun control not working.

One of the points that the article makes is that Houston has similar economic and ethnic statistics, yet has significantly less violent crime, and has less restrictive gun laws.
If the gun-control advocates are to be believed, then the extensive presence of guns in Houston that are legally and illegally owned should mean that violent crime statistics should be much higher rather than much lower. While gang activity is not quite as significant in Houston as it is in Chicago, it is still quite significant.

It's a good point and likely correct. Long ago I just started ignoring the liberals with their attempts to make various claims about guns, they have no clue and just lie as they think the means justify the ends. I will forever vote against them on that one issue alone.
Chicago is a mess and yes, very clearly gun control didn't help one bit. What a liberal would say is but but but Houston is super different it doesn't have the gang problem and there are less Walmarts per population or some other nonsense to deflect it. They don't care about reasoned argument or looking in to deeper causes only how they can twist things to ban guns.Additionally the deeper causes, at least in Chicago are all their fault.

The data on offenders also tells a troubling story: Young, Black males are overwhelmingly committing most of the murders. Based on the data on the victims, that means young, Black males are primarily killing other young, Black males. What a terrible situation.
