Chicago has their own kind of gun control where blacks control the guns.

Chicagoan here, maybe it's part of it but the areas play a huge part of it, Englewood and Austin have so much gang activity.
I'm of course pro-second amendment and to me, that's where it ends. I have a constitutional right to a gun and no other arguments are needed. Start trying to justify things and you end up in a war of statistics and reasons for and against.
No matter what reasons people want to claim for and against or why, I can say my city is a perfect example of gun control not working.

One of the points that the article makes is that Houston has similar economic and ethnic statistics, yet has significantly less violent crime, and has less restrictive gun laws.
If the gun-control advocates are to be believed, then the extensive presence of guns in Houston that are legally and illegally owned should mean that violent crime statistics should be much higher rather than much lower. While gang activity is not quite as significant in Houston as it is in Chicago, it is still quite significant.

It's a good point and likely correct. Long ago I just started ignoring the liberals with their attempts to make various claims about guns, they have no clue and just lie as they think the means justify the ends. I will forever vote against them on that one issue alone.
Chicago is a mess and yes, very clearly gun control didn't help one bit. What a liberal would say is but but but Houston is super different it doesn't have the gang problem and there are less Walmarts per population or some other nonsense to deflect it. They don't care about reasoned argument or looking in to deeper causes only how they can twist things to ban guns.Additionally the deeper causes, at least in Chicago are all their fault.

Gun control has no affect on crime, except to make some of those crimes involve firearms less, much the same way we see less assaults by bullwhip today. Thats not crime reduction, its remediation.
The high crime of Chicago has many causes, one major one being the war on drugs and the gangs that get funding from running drugs. This contraband is what funds their gun purchases and gives them reason to fight to the death over turf.
Youth gangs have always been a part of major cities, and they have fought over turf for generations, they just generally didnt feel the need to kill eachother until prohibition made it worthwhile.
