Because someone has to pay more, and they are the ones who can. Besides, they did not get rch by themselves. Everyone has help. Society gave them the opportunity, so now its time to give back.

Why does someone have to pay more? Why can't there be a flat tax rate?
Also, not everyone has help from the government on their path to success so why should they have to pay a disproportionate amount of their wealth to the government? Are they not already giving back by creating jobs which give others the chance to live happy and fruitful lives? I swear, socialists are keen on biting the hand that feeds them.
Someone has to pay more because a flat tax is often not enough.
And I never said the government helped them. I said society did. Nobody ever becomes rich in a vacuum. They use publicly educated workers, publicly funded roads and infrastructure, their businesses kept safe by police, etc.
Are they not already giving back by creating jobs
Sometimes, but often what they take out is greater than what they put in. For example look at wallwart. They effectivly use publicly subsidised workers. They do not pay out a living wage, they take in far more than they give back, and it is tax dollars that have to pay for the social services that support their workers.
I swear, socialists are keen on biting the hand that feeds them.
You've got it backwards. Its the poor and middle class that feed the rich. If all wealthy people disappeared, it would be simple to replace them. If all the working class disappeared, the rich would fall apart without them. And, I'm not a socialist, I just believe in a fair tax system.
i'll stop you right there, we all know the end game of a libertarian utopia (atlas shrugged lol) when all the have nots rip the guts out of the rich peoples stomachs.
