Thanks for that link! Its a great resource.
Twenty states now have adult obesity rates at or above 30 percent, 43 states have rates of at least 25 percent, and every state is above 20 percent. In 1980, no state was above 15 percent; in 1991, no state was above 20 percent; in 2000, no state was above 25 percent; and, in 2007, only Mississippi was above 30 percent
searches my state
Alabama's adult obesity rate is 32.4 percent, up from 27.7 percent in 2004 and from 11.2 percent in 1990
As an Alabamian and American in general... I think I'm going to cry.
Edit: Alabama is #1 in the nation for diabetes and #2 for hypertension. Fuck.

Although keep in mind these stats have changed since 2013. I saw somewhere that Alaska has beat us now :( Probably because the weed legalization has brought fatties from the other states to us.
It would also be interesting to know the percentage that is overweight (but not medically classified as obese) - my guess is around another 30% for most states.

On one hand, I'm glad my state ranks relatively well. On the other hand, 24.1% adult obesity rate is pretty fucking terrible. At least I'm fit, reduces a lot of competition for me!
