I thought it beautiful. Worth noting, even though the branches may compete the photosynthesis that is driven by sun light exposure, still nourishes the entire tree and is not relegated specifically to said individual branches. Sufficed to say they compete to bare more of the work load for the benefit of the the whole

A tree having branches that compete with each other for sun light is a documented issue that is detrimental to the tree's welfare. These kind of proverbs are cute but they ultimately fail to apply anything more than specious reasoning by analogy.

Sure, it is really just a figurative analogy. That's an interesting phenomenon, though. Survival of the fittest is not just for animals (shouldn't surprise me, but such an anthropomorphic phrase makes it hard to instinctually apply to plants and stuff).
