The court has just opened the door for organ trafficking.

For some families it's gonna cause major drama. When my father died, the hospital told my mother that some of his body parts could be used in organ donations. However, my mother refused and got extremely pissed off topic was even brought up. We got into a really ugly argument ourselves. She didn't give a fuck about saving potential lives of strangers in the future & it was driving me nuts. I kept pushing and refused to drop this topic (especially since you have a very short time window to agree).
Her stance was that God gave him those organs and therefore we need to make sure he has all of them during the funeral. After the wake, he was cremated with his wood coffin. Went to the funeral parlor later to pick up the ashes and realized that there's no way to tell anything apart. All the ashes were the same color and you couldn't even tell what belonged to his body and which ones belonged to the coffin, or to the suit he was wearing. Thought to myself WTF was the point of denying the hospital organ donations.
There are going to be other people out there that want every body part preserved so it can be included in the burial or cremation. Once one of them learns that something is missing, their grief+stress is going turn to anger. Even if it's petty, they're gonna generate as much noise as possible.

What ever happened to self-ownership? Do I not own my own body? Isn't that a fundamental part of freedom?
Look, I'm a big fan of organ donation. I've got the little sticker on my license saying I'm an organ donor and I've told my family and friends that should anything happen to me that they should make sure any part of my body that could help anyone else should be taken and used. But that's my choice.
It's absurd to say that the government has a right to my body at any time, living or dead. You'd think the authoritarians would give you a break after you die, but I guess not.

Forensic pathologist kept the brain of a 17-year-old car crash victim,"fixed” the brain in a jar of formaldehyde-derivative fluid and it was found by a classmate 2 months later on a shelf. Maybe I am in the minority but the family should know if their child's brain is being used for decoration.

I think the Judges got it wrong on this one. I'm sure that they would change their minds when it's their loved one on the slab.

What I understood from the article is that this is the interpretation of the current law, not a ruling of right or wrong. It's the law that needs updating to protect lives, medical investigation and prevent organ traffic.
