I think if the the sidebar said something like, "Welcome to ThatHappened. In this sub we post screenshots of things that really happened to us. We're not about memes, dad jokes, email forwards, things like that," it would convey the rules in a more friendly manner. That's just me, I find 'Rules' sections too authoritarian and unwelcoming.

I will certainly rephrase and change the presentation. If the remaining hard rules can be condensed enough to be quickly grokkable and easy enough to reference without the aid of a numbered list, I will consider that.
