People can't stop talking about feminism or reddit or Ellen Pao. On reddit I subscribed to several anti-feminist subreddits, but even I'm really sick of that shit taking over /v/all every day. Go to a gender subverse for that, we don't need /v/news and the other subs being circlejerks about feminism and Ellen Pao, especially if we ever want to this site to keep growing. If the fat-haters can agree to keep their stuff off the front page for the good of the site why can't we also agree to cool it on feminist stuff in the main subs?

Also the slow load times. They really need to get a Voat gold going, Reddit got a lot of their revenue from that it would help them expand servers even more.

I agree. If we don't want to come across as an anti-female website and scare off half of the population from joining the site (or the ~20% women who are currently here), /v/news cannot be full of anti-feminism/Pao articles, especially when it's not even real news. There should be separate subverses for that, not the default front page. I just finally unsubscribed from /v/news because it's honestly disheartening that so far, the majority of the population seems to be anti-feminism. I know that's not the case from the demographics survey, but if I didn't see those results, it would certainly seem that way. If we want to be better than Reddit, let's not cherrypick the worst of Reddit to be on the front page because that's really what is going on right now.

I would like it if most reddit related stuff was kept to /v/MeanwhileOnReddit. Ellen Pao and her shenanigans does not count as real news. But I don't think I want the admins to do anything about it. I just wish the users could self-moderate a little better.

I could not agree more. I unsubscribed from /v/news today because it is overrun with people who are obsessed with bashing feminism and talking about how shitty the world apparently is for men. If I wanted to read that crap I'd go find /v/mencomplaining or some comparable subverse. I replaced it with /v/technology and /v/science, which are mostly just overrun with people obsessed with Ayn Rand. That's not my cup of tea, either, but it makes for at least some decent conversation.

I think a lot of redditors are coming to voat so they can talk about the things they can't discuss on reddit anymore. I imagine most voaters still use their reddit accounts (I know I do), so they aren't used to discussing "normal" topics on voat yet. It's sort of like how Australia was founded by criminals; they probably talked about criminal stuff for quite a while before they developed into a (mostly) normal society.
