Thank you so much for this code @pembo210!

Your CSS snippet is made from pure awesome!

I've seen a few different CSS snow effects, including the horrific blizzard on Reddit's The_Donald sub, but I think /u/pembo210's version is by far the best!

I implemented it as part of the /v/Politics Christmas theme and I think it looks great.

Here's how the /v/Politics Christmas theme looked with the snow animation.

I loved the snow, however we did get one user complain about the animation being CPU expensive.

It sounds like that user may have been browsing Voat using a potato, however I thought I should pass on the feedback nevertheless.

I plan to have a look to see if there's any tweaking I can do to minimize CPU expenditure without compromising the quality of the animation too much... but I also wanted to ask @pembo210 if he had any suggestions to improve performance?

unfortunately it is. It's three layers moving at three different speeds using all css. I trimmed down the size of the squares and movement as much as possible, but it definitely does push it a bit for potato class goats.

Thanks for letting me know.

I think the animation looks perfect and I don't want to reduce it's size or quality at all.

Eh, I've got almost 12 months to think about it...
