Last I checked Mozilla were still providing stability and security updates, with new feature implementation handed over to the community under a new Release and Governance model. So, not really dead. Unless I have missed something.

Lol, ok, I will rephrase. Thunderbird is on life support. Mozilla has stopped developing any new features and now only providing an extended releases for security and stability. It's on oxygen. I've used Thunderbird for 12 years, not anymore. It's dead.

I suppose people are not using desktop email clients anymore. I used Thunderbird since 2004 and finally uninstalled it this year. It was alright. I rarely use a computer to check emails, unless I intend to compose a long email.
