I don't have a fitbit, but I do have a Garmin vivoactive. I got it primarily to track my running and cycling. I could care less about tracking steps, sleep, etc.

I got it tell time. Knowing how many steps you take each day along with the heat rate monitor is nice. I also like that the band is interchangeable and the weight/size/functionality.

My morbidly obese in-laws have them to satisfy their guilt of not taking care of themselves. Basically, any time they feel down about being gigantic slobs they look at their fitbit to see how many steps they've taken that day. It will show them 10,000 or so and they'll be all proud. I just can't bring myself to explain to them that the fitbit, which they have on while sitting around snacking all day, is likely reading the movement of their arms as they travel from cookie box to face as a step.

So no. I don't use a fitbit. I use a map.

I bought one when they first came out because I thought it would help push me to achieve more but what I found was I was already working out as much as I could and all the fitbit told me was that I was extremely active. I lift 3 times a week and run 4 days, so this device just really wasn't adding anything. I used it for quite a while but when the battery life started tanking I just tossed it.

"Wellness trackers" are generally not worth it, unless you just want it for the novelty. On the other hand, if you are already very active and want some way to monitor heart rate, distance(GPS), and other "useful" metrics, then invest in a Garmin watch. I use to sell these things, and I can tell you Fitbit was one of the most returned items ever. Garmin, on the other hand, was more successful, especially among those who are already active.
