He's not 100% correct. Drinking was common, but it says in the bible not to drink to excess... essentially, don't get drunk, just get tipsy.

i disagree, the verse clearly sates

the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. KJV

Alternate

... and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” NIV

The people were already drunk, and Jesus enabled them to get drunker. Yes, the bible discourages drinking to excess, but Jesus clearly shows through His actions here that simply getting drunk at a gathering is not considered excess.
