The strings were cut too short by the original OB so they got "lost" up inside my cervix. I had to see another OB to have the IUD removed. It hurt a fair bit because she had to open my cervix to get the IUD but the pain went away pretty quickly. And it was partially my fault too for neglecting to check where the strings were every month like you're supposed to.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. It's apparently not that common. And I also had a copper IUD so I'm not sure if that made a difference.
