Stew is always good in cold weather. Easy to cook, cooks in bulk, flexible.. yummy?

Snack on nuts and dried fruits. Seasonal depression is really common so a good sunlamp may help you. I moved to the tropics to get away from winter sadness.

Protein will help you build muscle, but you need to eat more calories than your body requires to gain weight.

Tine to attack why you get depressed :-)

I'd change where you go shopping and what you normally buy. Also, go from a leafy summer diet to one that is heavy fall harvest foods like potatoes and other long root veggies. Change out your normal menu to something new. Working on a new dish or taking cooking lessons will add variety and spice to your life.

You're lucky I normally put on 2-3 kilo during winter :-(
