maybe obamacare was designed to fail. it's just an excuse to go single payer.

do they not realize that universal healthcare cannot work when 70+% of the population is fat fucks

Canada's tax rates aren't that different to the US and it has universal coverage, plus the US spends a lot more per capita on health than Canada and European countries.

Odd reasoning, that, that it will somehow cost even more. It's already being paid for. Every penny. By us.
Seriously, do people think it's going to get more expensive because somehow or other hospitals which are providing all this healthcare for free will finally start getting paid? What a thought.

No. They are already getting paid. We pay for it. All of it. Always have.

The problem which single-payor or regulation has to solve is that the present system is run by people who take a 20% rakeoff every time money changes hands, so that by the time our money reaches the doctors and nurses half of has been taken by middlemen with their hands in the till up to their armpits.

Obamacare require US citizens to buy expensive health plans.

Did Obama do it too cause an armed revolt in America? People aren't going to buy this shit. People will get arrested and fined. People will eventually push back. America ends.

I think everyone's forgetting why Obamacare happened. That cheap insurance wasn't available to millions, and you could find your policy cancelled at any time just when you needed treatment. "Preexisting conditions" as minor as acne could completely prevent you from getting insurance or get your insurance pulled from right under you.

Those who were unlucky to have any kind of preexisting condition either had to pay huge premiums, or go without insurance at all and just wait until they were sick enough to use the emergency room for treatment and cost the taxpayer hugely.

That's no way to have a healthcare system either.

Of course Obamacare got watered down so much it's almost useless, as proven by current insurance prices. If there were proper price controls and a public insurance option, like every other western country that has an insurance rather than single payer system, there wouldn't be this mess.

Modifying the existing structure and closing the pre existing loophole would have fixed most of the issues the old system had.

Well, that's not far off what Obamacare did, and you see how that ended up. As I said other developed countries that don't have single payer have a highly regulated insurance model with public options which, if applied to the US, certainly wouldn't be re-writing the whole thing but would fix a lot of the price gouging, profiteering and general inefficiency in the current system.

He's one of the ones who are to blame. By the time the lobbyists and their hand-puppets in the senate were finished with that bill, it was exactly what the insurance companies wanted. It costs them on the order of ten figures every year, but the senate and house give them what they want.

I recall once on C-SPAN the watching president of the National Association Of Insurance Underwriters (I think it was called) address a meeting of his peers. He stated, in resonant and inspiring tones, "The business of the insurance business is not paying claims, the business of the insurance business is collecting premiums!" They fired him, of course. Not wise to tell the truth in front of a camera and an open microphone.
