Never a moment in a boys life like the first time he had to help qurter an elk and hall it out of the woods with his pa.

Really depends on the son's age and current interests. We can recommend outdoorsy type stuff all day, but he really couldn't care less about he outdoors, then it's wasted. If you're asking for just in general, though, that's a different story.

My boy and I split firewood together. He's a young boy and can't really split firewood but he likes swinging his hatchet.

We fish a lot and do woodworking projects together. Outside of that, we play. We fight, color and paint. I talk to them everyday about school and what they learned and who they played with.

If your son is interested in computers try Raspberry Pi. A ton of cool projects to do. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2895874/10-insanely-innovative-incredibly-cool-raspberry-pi-projects.html

Depends on his age.

My son has helped me work on cars since he was three; he likes being a part of changing tires, starters, and so on.

I pulled out my trombones from high school while we were disassembling and cleaning his trumpet, and we jammed a little (until I realized how long it had been since I actually played!)

We also hung up new curtains in his room; I made him do all the measuring, marking, drilling, fastening.

Years ago we practiced his pitching (until my hand hurt so bad from catching one too many of his fast balls!)

We built a model rocket and launched it at the park - that one is good for most ages!

It is a good sign that you want to bond with him - never give up that feeling!

Lego. If they're young it's fun to build the big ones as a family. Just building stuff in general, it seems. Just don't fall into the Pinewood Derby trap where you take over and the kid is left out. I hear shooting is also good, though I've never tried it with my dad. Building a PC was good practice on how to plan and organize a project. My dad and I also had fun playing Limbo (the video game) and we took turns. You're really only limited to your imagination.
