The "standard Holocaust narrative" as you put it, is that the government of Germany deliberately murdered approximately 10 million people due to their religion (Jewish), ancestry (Roma), political views (anti-nazi), or for some perceived eugenic defect (Homosexuality, Downs, retardation, physical deformities).
There is far more evidence that happened, including living eye witnesses, camera footage, official documents, and the statements of those that committed the acts.
And since you use the phrase "standard Holocaust narrative" I can only assume you are one of those that refutes empirical evidence, and is therefore working on the basis of belief that "standard Holocaust narrative" is false?

The skepticism is over the extent (how many people) and the nature (what exactly was done) of the ill treatment. Virtually nobody will deny that camps were set up to host undesirables, primarily Jews, maybe tens to hundreds of thousands of them. Evidence and reason does support that. But claims of death camps for millions stretches credibility.
