Idk why it has to be phrased as "putting them on a diet". Kids already have their diets dictated by their parents - just give them healthy portions of food and teach them that this is how regular people eat.

I don't know what rainbow filled world these fuckers live in but kids have always made fun of other kids for being fat. If you don't want your kid to be picked on don't make it so easy.

I read the first paragraph and thought to myself "The moms a hambeast most likely". What confirmed it for me wasn't where the mom outright admitted she was a fat pig, rather it was the paragraph or two before it where she spoke to the teacher and tried to ensure that the fat-shaming wouldn't happen again. Teachers are largely outnumbered by students, and they can't police their every thought (especially at that age when children don't really have a filter yet), the most the teacher can do is say *"Now Timmy, calling Hamgelina a landwhale isn't a very nice thing to do" even if it is true. If the piggered mother wants someone to be angry with, it should be herself for fucking up her child and causing her a lifetime of pain and rejection, not the teacher for failing to silence every child with eyes.

Shit like this makes me rage internally. Nobody, well.... most people, don't take responsibility for their actions anymore. It's always everyone else's fault, even when that's clearly not the case. With everything we know about obesity these days and it's direct negative correlation to good health, it's mind boggling to me that articles like this even exist. It's basically saying "We know you're destroying your body, the one vessel you have for the rest of your life, but how dare anybody bring up what I already know because it hurts muh feelz." It's insane, and perhaps if more people "fat shamed" like we used to, maybe, just maybe we wouldn't have an obesity epidemic on our hands. But no, fuck that because we want everyone to be happy while they pull the trigger and blow their brains out. We're just expected to pick up the slack and clean up the mess.

Never had I heard of a 6-year-old fat shaming another first-grader.

Really? We always made fun of the fat kid in the late 80's but that's because seeing a fat child was super rare!

When did speaking the truth become so unacceptable? And getting another kid in trouble for it? What happened to "kids are so honest" . The problem for the fatties is IT'S TRUE! Maybe at six she hasn't absorbed all the "body acceptance" bullshit and it'll do some good. Hey kid, YOU'RE FAT!

Society is so fucked. It's possible to write an article like this that admits to fattening a child to the point where they are visibly overweight enough to be made fun of by 6 year olds and act as the victim. If this was an underweight child due to deliberate underfeeding, the author would be vilified as a terrible, child abusing parent.

Yep. This is ridiculous. The kid's 15 pounds overweight at the age of six, and the mother's already making excuses for her. The poor kid will mimic her mother, of course, and another HAES advocate is born; another life is ruined. I feel sorry for this kid, because her mother is a bad mother.
